What Is Endometriosis?

Symptoms Of Endometriosis

~ before/during/after menstruation
~ during ovulation
~ in the bowel during menstruation
~ when passing urine
~ during or after sexual intercourse
~ in the lower back region
~ severe cramps
If you have any reason to suspect you may have endometriosis, you need to schedule an appointment with a physician and have a pelvic exam.
Treating Endometriosis

An experienced practitioner can tell much from a pelvic exam, but the only definitive diagnosis is surgical. We recommend a natural approach as a first step to see if it provides symptom relief.
Natural Treatments-
Some of the simplest steps you can take to help control endometriosis are:
# Change your diet, eliminate non-organic dairy products, beef and chicken. Choose organic foods that contain no added growth hormones, (there's no reason to limit their consumption).
# Support hormonal balance. Eat more nutrient-rich foods, such as vegetables, soy, cold-water fish and fiber. This will help clear excess estrogen from the body
# Be mindful of carbohydrates. To support overall hormonal balance, follow a whole foods diet. This includes limiting alcohol intake.
# To limit endogenous estrogen production, maintain healthy levels of body fat. Excess weight often means excess estrogen since body fat is a secondary production site for estrogen.
# Vitamins and minerals help supplement your daily food intake, including calcium and magnesium. (Omega-3 essential fatty acids work as a natural anti-inflammatory.
# Take an effective herbal suppliment to support the health of the uterus and fallopian tubes.
Conventional Medical Treatments-
# NSAID's are available by prescription to decrease pain and inflammation when needed. (Ibuprofen, naproxen, and other antiprostaglandins)
# Hormone contraceptive methods such as birth control pills, patch or ring, or Depo-Provera injections can help with managing your endometriosis.
# If less-invasive preventative and conventional approaches have failed to provide relief, in extreme cases, surgical treatment may prove the only option.
